Christmas charm between Grand-Place and Vismarkt
Winter Wonders opens on 28 November 2025 and brings festive cheer right through to 1 January 2026, with the fun continuing until 4 January at Place De Brouckère. Spread across nearly three kilometres, you’ll find more than 200 wooden stalls serving up winter treats and thoughtful gift ideas, from handmade candles and cosy Nordic socks to a well-earned Belgian jenever.
At the centre of it all sits the Grand-Place, home to a towering Christmas tree and a stunning sound-and-light show you really shouldn’t miss. Be sure to explore the other spots as well: Bourse, Place De Brouckère, Marché aux Poissons (Vismarkt), Sainte-Catherine, Tour Noire, Place de la Monnaie, Mont des Arts and Rue de la Madeleine. Each one adds its own atmosphere to Brussels’ festive season.
Magical highlights: ice skating, Ferris wheel & winter experiences
Winter Wonders Brussels 2025 isn’t just about browsing stalls and following the scent of mulled wine. One highlight is the large ice rink at Place De Brouckère, where you can glide across the ice beneath a canopy of twinkling lights. And if you’re in the mood for a bigger view, the Ferris wheel at the Marché aux Poissons (Vismarkt) gives you the chance to see the city glowing from above.
Families have plenty to enjoy too. A magical forest, classic carousels and creative light installations offer moments of wonder, and along the market route you’ll find small stages with live music, street performances and winter art that keep the energy warm and welcoming.
A feast for all the senses
Advent in Brussels is the perfect time to indulge. Alongside Belgian favourites like chocolate, fries and beer, Winter Wonders brings flavours from all over the world, from langos and bratwurst to roasted chestnuts that warm your hands as much as your mood. Take your time wandering through the stalls, breathe in the festive scents and follow whatever catches your eye.
Twinkling lights and even more festive magic
If you’re in Brussels during Advent, make sure you give yourself time to wander beyond the market. The side streets and old alleys are dressed up for the season, and the city’s cafés are basically an open invitation to slow down with a waffle, a coffee or a seriously good hot chocolate. It’s winter comfort at its best.
From late November, the city turns the glow up even further with Brussels by Lights: a 20-kilometre trail of illuminated streets, landmarks and squares that gives the whole place its own festive heartbeat.
