Spring Break in Europe: The Best Events & Festivals for Your Spring Getaway

Winter's done. Spring is here. And if you've been waiting for a sign to finally book that trip — this is it. From the Baltic coast to the Belgian capital, Europe does spring brilliantly, and we've got hotels right in the middle of it all. Here's what's happening across our five cities this season, and why each one deserves a spot on your radar.

Place Royale in Brussels at dawn

Brussels — Blooms, Beats & Belgian Joie de Vivre

Brussels in spring is one of Europe's great underrated pleasures. The city shakes off winter with real enthusiasm — terraces fill up, parks burst into colour, and the cultural calendar gets seriously good. It's the kind of city that rewards wandering, and spring is the best time to do it.

Don't miss this spring:

Floralia Brussels (3 April – 3 May 2026): Hundreds of thousands of tulips, daffodils and hyacinths at the Castle of Groot-Bijgaarden. Go on a weekday — it's blissfully calm.

Brussels Short Film Festival (22 April – 2 May 2026): International short films, creative energy, and zero stuffiness. A great excuse to spend a rainy afternoon doing something brilliant.

Street life & terraces: As soon as the sun's out, Brussels moves outside. Follow the locals, find a terrace, and let the city come to you.

Reading — Music, Markets & Proper English Spring

Reading doesn't always get the credit it deserves, and that's arguably part of the charm. Sitting just west of London with great rail links and a genuinely lively scene of its own, it's a brilliant spring base — whether you're here for the events or just passing through on the way to somewhere else and realising there's no reason to leave.

Worth your time this spring:

Reading Indie Comedy Festival (14 – 17 May 2026): Sharp, funny, intimate. English humour at its best in venues that actually suit it... like Pentahotel Reading, yep that’s right. We’re hosting several evenings of comedy with excellent comedians. Hit that link to see who!

Are You Listening? (8 & 9 May 2026): One of the UK's best emerging music festivals. Indie, alternative, and genuinely exciting new acts across multiple city venues.

Markets, pubs & food festivals: Local produce, street food, live music, and a pub culture that needs no introduction. Rougher around the edges than London — and better for it.

Stay at Pentahotel Reading and you're right where you need to be.

Rostock — Sea Air & the First Festival Feelings of the Year

There's something about a Baltic coastal city in spring that just works. Rostock is one of Germany's most underappreciated cities — a proper Hanseatic town with a lively university scene, a beautiful old town, and Warnemünde right on the doorstep when you need sand under your feet and salt in the air.

What's on this spring:

Rostocker Ostermarkt (27 March – 12 April 2026): Regional food, colourful stalls and genuine spring atmosphere in the old town. A great way to ease into the season.

Port Party (25 & 26 April 2026): Live music, maritime vibes and Rostock at its most alive. The harbour in spring is something else.

Warnemünder Frühlingslandgang (29 April – 3 May 2026): Coast, food and relaxed seaside events right on the water. The perfect reset.

Pentahotel Rostock

Leipzig — Culture, Creativity & Barely Contained Energy

Leipzig is one of those cities that gets under your skin. Creative, a little chaotic, and completely its own thing — it's been quietly stealing Berlin's thunder for years, and spring is when it really comes into its own. The city fills up, the parks come alive, and the events calendar gets genuinely exciting.

Don't sleep on these:

Leipziger Kleinmesse (4 April – 17 May 2026): Fairground rides, food stalls and a nostalgic atmosphere that's more fun than it has any right to be. Perfect for a spontaneous spring evening.

48. Leipzig Marathon (19 April 2026): The whole city gets moving. Run it, cheer from the sidelines, or just enjoy the energy — it all works.

Galleries, clubs & pop-ups: Leipzig's creative scene doesn't need a schedule. Wander into the Südvorstadt or Lindenau and see what finds you.

Pentahotel Leipzig is your base. The rest takes care of itself.

Wiesbaden — Wine, Wellness & Spring at Its Most Civilised

Not every spring break needs to be full throttle. Wiesbaden offers something rarer — a genuinely elegant city that knows how to relax without being boring about it. Grand architecture, thermal springs, a beautiful Kurpark, and a wine region on the doorstep that starts waking up just as spring arrives.

Make sure you catch:

Frühlingsfest (10 – 13 April 2026): Classic German Volksfest energy — rides, food and good spirits. Simple, fun and very much worth an evening.

Rheingauer Schlemmerwochen (24 April – 3 May 2026): The wine season opens properly. Vineyard tastings, regional food and the kind of leisurely afternoon that you don't plan, you just fall into.

Kurpark & thermal springs: Fresh air, warm water and a pace of life that actively encourages you to slow down. Wiesbaden doesn't rush, and neither should you.

Pentahotel Wiesbaden is the perfect base for all of it.

Penta — Your Home for Your Spring Getaway

Whichever city calls you this spring, we'll be there when you arrive. At Penta, we've been welcoming neighbours and explorers since 1971 — and we've spent that time figuring out exactly what makes a hotel feel like more than just somewhere to sleep.

At the heart of every Penta is the Pentalounge — part bar, part café, part living room, and the place where guests and locals have been crossing paths for decades. Check in at the bar, grab a drink, get your bearings. However your spring break goes, you'll always have somewhere good to come back to.

Spring is short. Book it while you can.
