Rostock: Like a local
April sees us catching up with our team at Pentahotel Rostock for some top insider tips. In the far north of Germany along the Baltic Sea, Rostock boasts a beautiful historic city centre, picture-perfect harbour, gorgeous green parks and white sandy beaches. What more could you need?
1. The right spot for people watching.
There’s no better place to see some interesting faces than Rostock City Port.
2. Where to go to get away from the crowds.
The “Gespensterwald” Nienhagen – a magical forest for a nature walk or bike ride along the coast.
3. A must for music lovers.
If you take a stroll down Kröpeliner Strasse (right at our front door), you are sure to find some great street musicians.
4. Unmissable galleries or museums for any self-respecting art buff.
The Kunsthalle Rostock is great for contemporary art by national and international artists as well as local artists from the region. The gallery is located in the grounds of the park by the Schwanenteich lake and you can also find art pieces through the park.
5. Tips for a rainy day.
The HCC Rostock is a sports centre where you can go bowling, play 3D mini golf, laser tag and lots more!
6. What’s unique to your city?
Hanse Sail Rostock is Germany's largest annual maritime festival and one of the largest in Europe. Unfortunately it did not take place in 2020 due to the pandemic, but we hope it will be full steam ahead for August 2021
7. What’s worth checking out in the region around the city?
Fischland-Darß-Zingst is a sparsely populated peninsula less than an hour’s drive from Pentahotel Rostock. A lighthouse, deer or bird watching and of course, beautiful beaches are some of the things you can enjoy here.
