Pre-Summer Social: Why Liège is the Place to be

If you've been to Liège in the autumn, you know it's cosy. If you've been in the winter, you know it's basically a giant Christmas ornament. But Liège in the early summer, aka May and June? That's when the "Fiery City" really starts sizzling.

Before the festival crowds descend in July, the city belongs to the locals, the terrace-dwellers, and the people who know that late Belgian spring/early summer is best paired with a cold Peket and a spot in the sun. Whether you're here to work, play, or something in between, here’s how to get the most out of this period in the heart of the city.

Hops & Heritage

We aren't saying you have to like beer to enjoy Liège, but it does certainly help. From May 21–24, 2026, the Summer Beer Lovers' Festival takes over the space near the iconic Guillemins Station. Forget stuffy tasting rooms; this is an open-air celebration of Walloon brewing culture with food trucks and a vibe that's more "backyard party" than "trade show."

Penta Tip: It's a pleasant 30-minute walk from our front door, or a 15-minute hop by tram. Grab a map at the lounge, but honestly, just follow the sound of the crowds.

The "Sauvenière" Sunset

Our home on Boulevard de la Sauvenière puts you right in the heartbeat of the city's social scene. As the evenings stretch out, the neighbourhood transforms. The terraces fill up, the volume goes up, and the Art de Vivre becomes the only task on your to-do list.

If the streets get a little too hectic, the Pentalounge makes for a perfect sanctuary. We've got a proper vibe, great cocktails, and a pool table that's always ready for a challenger. We're quietly proud of the music too. It's a solid spot to settle in before you head into Le Carré district for the night.

Riverside Recovery

June is the sweet spot for the Parc de la Boverie. It's the city's green lung, sitting right between the Meuse and the canal. Rent a bike, cruise the RAVeL paths, or just grab a spot on the grass with some local cheese from the La Batte Sunday market.

Looking for a different perspective? The Navette Fluviale river cruises start their full summer schedule in May. There's something about seeing the skyline from the water that makes the city feel entirely new, even if you've been here dozens of times.

Fuel for the Fiery City

You can't do the "Fiery City" on an empty stomach. Whether you spent the night exploring the bars of the Féronstrée district or you're gearing up for a day of back-to-back meetings, our breakfast buffet is ready for you. Fresh, local, and plentiful, it's exactly the kind of fuel you need to conquer the 374 steps of the Montagne de Bueren. Or just the walk back to your bed.
