Prague’s Best Festivals

Prague’s Best Festivals

Prague is an awesome city, and there are lots of reasons it’s worth a visit at any time of the year. But it’s also home to an array of vibrant and exciting festivals of all different kinds. So, if you get a little smart with your planning, you can not only see the usual highlights, but also something unique and extra special during your visit. But “what festivals?” we hear you cry! Good news, we’ve curated a list of some of our favourites…

Designblok

This one is a must for anyone with a passion for creativity and innovation. Designblok is the largest design and fashion expo in Central and Eastern Europe. With everything from fashion and furniture to architecture and art, it is quite simply a feast for folks who appreciate good, unique or interesting design. It’s spread across various locations in the city, meaning that you can dip in and out of it whilst checking out some of the city’s other sights.

Letní Letná

Letní Letná is an international festival of contemporary circus and theatre. Expect to see groups from all over the world delivering all kinds of weird and wonderful acts and performances. It’s vibrant, energetic and with over 200 acts we can safely say there’s never a dull moment. A cool bonus is that there is also an accompanying program with free entry that delivers workshops in things like art and juggling. Letní Letná is very much a family-friendly festival with loads of stuff tailored towards children. So, it might be the one for you if you are scared of kids… or clowns.

Dožínky na Letné

Also at Letná, is Dožínky na Letné. This is one for people who really want to engage with Czech culture and tradition. It’s a Harvest festival, so there’s loads of fresh and local produce, and of course lots of delicious Czech delicacies. Beyond that, you’ll see plenty of traditional attire and hear lots of Czech folk music. It’s definitely a memorable experience and a unique way to discover Czech culture.

Signal Festival

This next one quite literally illuminates Prague. Signal is a digital and creative culture festival, that has grown to be one of the most visited cultural events in Czechia. With a focus on light design as well as visual and digital art, it is quite simply mesmerising. There’s an expression that "A picture is worth a thousand words", if taking a look at the gallery on Signal’s website won’t convince you that it is worth a visit, then nothing will.

Prague Sounds

Last but by no means least, we come to Prague Sounds. This isn’t your typical music festival… Don’t expect it to be limited in terms of genres, and don’t expect any pop megastars to be headlining. Instead, you can enjoy performances from some of the most important names in world music, jazz, electronica, and alternative hip-hop. All in some of Prague’s best and most inspiring venues. No standing in a field necessary!

As if by some kind of miraculous coincidence, none of these are camping festivals, meaning that you’ll need somewhere to stay… Pentahotel Prague can offer you the perfect space to relax, unwind and get a great night’s sleep after attending one of the above.
