NEIGHBOURHOOD TIPS #1
If seeing Brussels is on your agenda, the Marollen Lift (l’ascenseur des Marolles) is just the ticket. You can enjoy great panoramic views of the Sablon and Marolles districts, where galleries old and new nestle side by side. Aching feet and legs will definitely thank their owners. Grab the lift from Rue Haute and Rue des Minimes, at Place Breughel, and in seconds the view’s yours!
NEIGHBOURHOOD TIP #2
Why call a café Delirium? We have no idea. Probably nothing to do with the fact that it boasts over 2,000 beers, and adds more every month. In fact, it’s a record holder. In 2004, it was awarded a Guinness World Record for having – you guessed it – 2,004 beers for sale. And if you can’t choose one, choose more than one! The staff at the Delirium Café are very happy to help you get the beer that’s right for you.
NEIGHBOURHOOD TIP #3
Here at penta we’re total culture vultures, so we love the Grand Sablon near the Mont des Arts district. It’s as old as the hills (literally) but its current chic status really emerged towards the end of the 1960s. Artists, antique stores, boutiques and chocolatiers (Neuhaus, Pierre Marcolini and Godiva, to name three) have added to the aroma of ’sablonisation’, and weekends mean cafés, leisure and the rather lovely Sablon Antiques and Books Market.
